You know you've been waiting for this.
I've had these Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips since July 2015 but I've been delaying this post because.. I don't know really. I love them too much to share. Kidding!
Okay, in case you're wondering.. the shades I have are the first and second batch of shades released. If I'm not mistaken, the ones I have are all part of the permanent line of Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips.
Trust me, I tried to resist from buying even one but I couldn't. As I've said, I got them in 2015 - the year of liquid lipsticks! I just had to buy 11 shades!
Okay, let's move on to swatches.
Midi on my lips
Midi is a soft neutral beige shade. I'm glad it doesn't wash me out, at least not entirely. It definitely has a pink undertone.
Trap on my lips
Trap is a greige shade. This is one of Colourpop's best seller. You see, I was so excited with this shade because it doesn't look greige on photos and swatches online. But when I saw it dry on my lips, I was a bit disappointed because I looked sick. I still prefer Tootsi for a greige shade.
Shimmy on my lips
Shimmy is a pale pastel baby pink shade. I don't know it looks like MAC Saint Germain's liquid lipstick sister.
Beeper on my lips
Beeper is a warm mid-tone taupe shade. To me, it's light brown. Period. I love it.
Solow on my lips
Solow is a neutral nude pink shade. On my lips though, it's not nude. This is pink! The type that I don't like!
Clueless on my lips
Clueless is a dusty mauve pink shade. Now, we're talking. This is my type of pink. Muted but not pale. This is the matured kind of pink.
Bumble on my lips
Bumble is a dusty warm terracotta shade. I wasn't expecting to like this shade. From the tube, it was leaning more on the pink side but when I applied it on my lips, it seems to have more reddish tones. It's like brick and pink combined.
Creeper on my lips
Creeper is a true classic blue red. This is also one of Colourpop's best seller and has been sold out for a while. OMG, this is a true red liquid lipstick. The shade description is very accurate - finally! Love at first application, you guys! I can't remember having a red lipstick this bright. It whitens my teeth. It brightens up my face. I feel like I'm Marilyn Monroe with this liquid lipstick! But I don't know, I find this too bright for day time. I use this when I attend events at night. It's perfect.
Tulle on my lips
Tulle is a dusty mauve burgundy shade. This is another shade that I totally love not to mention this is also one of the best seller shades. However, you have to put effort on applying an even shade on the lips. As you can see on the photo, the middle part of my lips is darker. Every time I use this, I get the same uneven result.
Avenue on my lips
Avenue is a deep yellow red shade. Sorry but what the hell is a "yellow red" shade? Haha. I consider this the darker sister of Creeper. It gives me the same feels when I'm wearing this! I get a lot of compliments when I have this on my lips.
Lax on my lips
Lax is a vampy blackened red shade. Yup, true. I find this a bit streaky like Tulle. I like this shade but I can't find the right occasion to wear this. It's too fierce. LOL.
Now, here's a side by side swatches for a better comparison. I'm happy that my shade selection doesn't have any shade very similar to one another.
I love Colourpop Ultra Matte Lips because they're truly matte (duh!) and transfer proof once set. They stay long on your lips but starts to flake the moment you eat anything with oil. If you want to retouch, better remove what's left on your lips with a makeup wipe remover then re-apply. It feels weird when you just re-apply while some parts of your lips have flakes (of the liquid lipstick) here and there. The scent is nothing floral. The smell is quite similar to most liquid lipsticks - smells like chemical though not that strong.
Colourpop Ultra Matte Lip retails for USD6. While Colourpop doesn't ship worldwide, you can purchase their products from online stores like @makeovershop on Instagram. It's being sold for PhP450 a pop.
