Current Love: Maybelline Color Blur Lip Pencil

2015 must be the year of drugstore makeup for me. I've never been this hooked with drugstore makeup THIS much! It's even an understatement.

When I found out about Maybelline's Color Blur, I knew I just had to try them. Remember ombrè lips? Color Blur was inspired by that. Only this time, you can achieve ombrè lips with just one lip colour or "blur" it as the brand coins it.

Ombrè lip wasn't the reason though why I gave in to this product. Color Blur has a matte finish and y'all know I love matte lipsticks!

At first, I was expecting this lipstick to be as thin as Colourpop Lippie Stix. As it turns out, it's more of a fat lip pencil! From the Maybelline website, it's also described as a lip pencil. It's the swivel type of lip pencil so no need to sharpen it, just turn the bottom of the pencil.

The lip pencils I got were all brand new but for some odd reason, the tip is not polished and it has spots on top as if it touched something.

See?

And yeh, back to the smudged part. You can see this at the bottom tough it as a cover. It's made of rubber, nothing grand. It can do the job but for me, ombrè lip was so 2 years ago so I wasn't really keen on trying it.

You'll see the instructions on how to get the ombrè lip look/blurred look on the cap of the lip pencil. Easy peasy.

Color Blur is a matte lip pencil that is very creamy to apply. You won't feel any tugging upon application and it's what I love most about it. Staying power is 4 hours or until you eat food [because of oil]. As expected, the lighter shades fade faster but they do leave a very nice stain on your lips. Sometimes I don't even re-apply. Among all the shades I have, the one I use the most is I Like to Mauve it. I've only used the other shades once LOL.

As for the colour range, it's very straight forward and has a variety of colours. They have orange and purplish shades! I only wish that they released a nude shade. That would have been a very nice lip shade to have!

Unfortunately, this product is not yet available here in Manila. I don't know if it will ever be available here. In the states, this retails for USD7.99 plus tax.
