There's something about drugstore makeup brand that lures us and make us hoard. Major reason for this is the price point because they are affordable. It's a great plus when the product is a hit. That's almost always the case with Maybelline. This year, I've been loving drugstore makeup brands more and more.
Last July, Maybelline released a new face powder and foundation from the Dream line - Dream Satin Skin Liquid Foundation* and Dream Satin Skin Two Way Cake*. This was actually a love at first sight for me. The first time I saw this at the Maybelline counter, I immediately fell in love with the packaging. I love how feminine and mature the color of the packaging is. It's a timeless color. I was so excited to try when I got this because I liked the Dream Mousse. I knew this has got to be as good as that or even better.
The Maybelline Two Way Cake* powder is versatile on its own. You can use it as a powder foundation or as a setting powder. You can use it dry or use it wet. It's entirely up to you. As for me, I haven't tried using this wet as I don't do my makeup like that. I mainly use this as a setting powder to my liquid foundation. On my lazy days, I use this to lock my moisturiser.
I love how this is finely milled, too. It's not that powdery so there's little to bar none of powder wasted. It might not be that obvious, but the centre part of the powder is already already curved. It's not a surprise if I hit pan on this soon! For reference, my shade for the two way cake is B2.
My shade for the Dream Satin Skin Foundation is B2 also. Close to shades NC30-35. I was torn between B1 and B2 but I just decided to get a darker shade. The foundation has a pump so you can definitely maximise the foundation. No product will be wasted. That's why I love foundation bottles that has a pump. This foundation is less mousse-y than Dream Mousse but it's not watery. If you can see from the photo, it stays put at the back of my palm and its not flowing down.
It blends like a dream as if it blends with your skin. Can you tell that the back of my palm has foundation? It looks smoother and more flawless. This foundation gives medium to full coverage.
Of course, you need a tool to apply this flawlessly on your face. I use the Maybelline Stippling Brush* and stipple the foundation all over my face. This is how I do it when I want to achieve the no-makeup makeup look with this foundation. When I want full coverage, I used a dense face brush. I apply 2 layers to give me full coverage.
