Beauty Budget Series: Fashion 21 All Day Matte Lipstick

Does it ever happen to you that you kill time inside SM Beauty store and end up with several beauty products you don't need? It always happens to me. I was looking at local brands to try and ended up at Fashion 21's counter. Quite honestly, I wasn't impressed but I checked the lipsticks anyway because I saw the word matte. I swatched the lipsticks and decided to get one.

I wanted to get more but I'm not sure if I will like it or not. I got a shade that I can wear any time of the day.

Fashion 21 All Day Matte Lipstick in Bronze, Php175

The shade is nowhere near bronze so I don't know why it's called that. But it doesn't matter. Bronze is a nude lipstick which could pass as a my-lips-but-better lipstick. When I swatched this, I was reminded of Ever Bilena's matte lipstick in Mauvey (a shade I really like!) only Fashion 21 is much drier. A truer matte, in my opinion.

It's like a pinkish brown shade.

Bronze on my lips!

Say hello to my Kylie Jenner lips! I kid! Bronze looks brown on my lips but the good kind. Its matte texture is comparable to some imported brands of matte lipsticks. Even though the shade is not that dark, one layer is all I need to achieve this shade. Longevity of this lipstick is quite impressive, too. It can last the several hours even after I sip on a straw and eat. Well, it fades but leaves a nice stain without bleeding. I've been using this quite a lot lately because I really like how it looks on my lips.

The packaging is like a bootleg of MAC lipsticks. It clicks when you close it and the words Fashion 21 on the bullet fades easily. I lasso like how this lipstick can withstand Manila heat In comparison with EB matte lipsticks, this one hasn't shown a sign of softness. It's still stands straight while my EB matte lipstick is already leaning a bit leaving marks on the side of the tube (don't you have it when that happens?).

If you're looking for an affordable matte lipstick (and a local brand at that), then this lipstick is the right one for you! It's only PhP175! This line has more than 10 shades to choose from - nudes, pinks, reds. Rest assured you'll find at least one shade you'll like. I'm not sure if I'll buy more of this since I have a lot of lipsticks and I'm thinking of disposing this soon only because I still have a ton of lipsticks to use. Other than that, I see myself repurchasing this eventually!

This one really suits you the best, and also your hair color. <3 I can say the tube is quite good. Thanks for this, I will surely buy the exact shade you got.

  3. My favorite lipstick:) twice na ko bumili nito. Parang Mac nga ang packaging:) Pag sobra nga pagswipe parang brown na pero still I love this one. Pretty din yung sushi na shade ng F21;)

  4. They're very similar! I tried applying Mauvey on my upper lip and Bronze on my lower lip. I couldn't tell the difference except that Broze is more matte :)

  6. I also have this one! Super love ko shade, but it washes me out pag hindi ako nag blush. :)

  7. On the photo above, I used a bronzer as blush para "tan" effect kuno :)

  8. I can tell! It looks great on you. I do the same but when I take pictures I really really look a little bit sickly. haha

  10. It looks streaky sa swatch, pero okay naman pigmentation? I might get it if I see it around. We have similar coloring and I'm liking neutral shades again!

  11. Gusto ko naman yung pigmentation. Okay for a local brand if compared with Ever Bilena. Yun pa lang natry ko kasi aside from this. Bumalik na naman ako sa neutral shades of lipstick haha :)

  15. I tried Sushi and Bronze kaso di bagay sakin =( so I purchased Russet yesterday instead before I went home. LOL. I did not eat sa buong shift ko para tipid and may pambili ng bagong lipstick!

  16. I'm not sure if I've seen Russet na :) the things we do for makeup. Minsan I skip meals rin then iniisip ko na lang diet ako !

  17. Yes, the picture did make me wonder why it's called Bronze! After reading the fourth paragraph and seeing it on your lips, I said to myself, "Wow, I am going to get myself one!" I really like how natural-looking it is, plus you gave it your stamp of approval. :)

It seems that Fashion 21 is a good local, affordable brand. Aside from your good review of the matte lipstick, I read a review of Fashion 21's mascara in another blog where the blogger gave it two thumbs up.

  20. You got me at my-lips-but-better lipstick. I kinda wanna wear more daring lipstick colors but I have to wear it depending on the location and occasion. Due to compatibility reasons, I decided to stick with good-for-everyday-wear lipsticks. A lot of good quality lipsticks are available but being a student means having shopping limitations. Actually, I saw this brand on the mall but I did not know it was this cheap! I will try it asap. Haha. At this point, I am loving your blog already. I can see a lot of potential addition to my must buy list.
