Shiseido Veiled Rouge for Spring/Summer 2015*

Sample Room invited us at Shiseido's 2nd International Beauty Fair last March. This was something I couldn't dare miss because I missed the first one last year. Besides, anything for Sophie and the whole Sample Room peeps!

I arrived very late and Naka was almost done with her makeup demo. I chatted with Char and Say at the cocktail table to catch up with life. After the demo, most of us were given 10,000 Shiseido money to spend on the latest collection. That's when everyone went crazy! I got a total of 6 products but for today, I'm reviewing their Veiled Rouge.

Shiseido Veiled Rouge in RD309 and RS711

I've only had one Shiseido lipstick before acquiring these two. I gotta be honest that I didn't like it so much because I found it to be too sheer for my liking. I ended up giving it to my mom. The shade was red. I'm not sure if my mom finished it as she's not a fan of red lipsticks.

When I got to swatch Veiled Rouge from Shiseido's SS2015 collection, I thought it's more pigmented now. I mean, you can see it from the swatches. I initially wanted to get all the shades but ended up with just two because I wouldn't know what to do with 7 lipsticks (if ever) and other shades were gone in a jiffy.

RS711 at the bottom and RD309 on top

I have two years to play with these lippies!

Between the two, I thought RD309 was going to be my ultimate favourite. But RS711 is just as good. It's actually quite unique. I can't give justice to its shade because it won't appear correctly on the camera no matter which angle I take a photo of. Tellie, Donna, and I were discussing that RS711 looks sophisticated - it looks old but modern. It's vampy but not really. I can not describe this shade to save my life.

Here's RD309 on my lips. Another MLBB shade, yes?

It evened out the colour of my lips.

RS711 on my lips. Now, we're talking.

I just got a haircut and I'm finding the right angle for my new short hair.

Please tell me what shade this is. Different angle = different colour.

I just wish it looks as good as its swatch.

With filter.

I was almost disappointed with RS711 when I looked back at our photos in Singapore. It looks way different on video! Witness it on this video below.

In the video, my lips look vampy. It's dark in a good way. The shade I was looking for. I therefore conclude that Veiled Rouge looks prettier on photos. It's like the colour shows more. Even RD309 doesn't look that perfect when I'm looking at my lips. But on photos, it looks really nice.

I love the packaging of this lipstick. It's not your usual bullet of lipstick. As a mater of fact, just by looking at the shape of this lipstick, you'd know it's Shiseido because it's very distinct. It's like a star or a clover or something. The clicking sound it makes when you close the lipstick is addicting, too! It reminds me of Tom Ford. That clicking sound is a guarantee that your lipstick is safely closed! I'm emphasizing this because even the cover of my MAC lipsticks have the tendency to break loose from the tube.

The staying power of this lipstick is about 2 to 3 hours. I still find this lipstick sheer and given the staying power, I think it is. For the lighter shade which is RD309, you could say that staying power is shorter. I love how this lipstick feels on my lips though because it keeps my lips moisturised without my lips feeling sticky. With that said, it doesn't define lip lines which is always good! It's a good break from matte lipsticks.

Shiseido Veiled Rouge retails for PhP1,150 and is available at all Shiseido counters and shops.

  1. Did not like my first Shiseido lippie either. It supposed to be a rich, purplish wine but the sheer formula just made it look awkward. The dark color would migrate to the edges. :( Glad to know that the new line has better pigmentation.

  3. Haven't tried any cosmetics from Shiseido, but it looked like a balm stain for me. Bagay naman sayo, may mga time hindi ko din naappreciate yung shade ng lippy pero nacocompliment ng iba. Hehe. I really should step out on my comfort zone.

  9. RD309 kinda nude shade for me =) perfect for everyday and simple look.2-3 hours staying power is ok but i think if you drink softdrinks i'l wipe away the shade easily.

  10. Given the chance, I'll get RD309 since I am so loving the no-makeup-look these days. And I think that both shades suit you Miss Gem =)

To be honest, I don't really find the pigmentation really good. Based on the pictures, I can deem its pigmentation similar to a lip tint. I can't also get why Shiseido products are so expensive.

Anyways, I love your new hairstyle! May I ask where did you get your hair color and what shade is it?

  13. It's sheer just like most of Shiseido lipsticks. But pigmentation of these lipsticks are way better than the one I've tried before.
