L'Oréal Paris Mat Magique All-in-One Matte Transforming Powder

L'oread changed its packaging this year from Gold to Hot Pink and they started it with their latest powder foundation, the Mat Magique.

This powder claims to give a 12hr shine-free fresh look.

The (up to) 12-hour claim is good enough to get your attention, right? It sure did get my attention. Although quite honestly, I wasn't expecting much. this powder comes in 5 shades which I think is limited. I got the shade in G1 Vanilla Ivory which should be a shade darker than my shade.

G1 Vanilla Ivory

Woke up like this. Haha.

Here's a swatch.

What makes this powder unique is that it has Volcanic Perlite Infusion which is a sebum absorbant helping your face stay matte the whole day, well, up to 12 hours. What I like about the powder is that its finely milled although it can get powdery if your powder brush is very dense. My tip is to turn it upside down when you're swiping your brush on the powder so the fall out will go directly on the floor instead on the case. Don't you just hate it when the loose powder piles up on the side of the case/compact? Yes, it does come with a sponge but I don't use it. I leave it unused.

I've been using this on and off for about two months now. I can't use this as a powder foundation because I find the coverage very light. This could be my best bet for Summer because it's the time of the year that I use powder foundations more than ever. What sets me back though is that my T-zone starts to oil up on the 4th hour. I'm usually just in the (air-conditioned) office all day and I only leave the office during lunch so I don't understand why my T-zone oils up before lunch time. I used this to set my concealer and as an over-all powder one weekend and my T-zone oiled up one hour after I left the house. Well, the claim was up to 12 hours. Keyword, UP TO.

Here's a photo of me as soon s I got home. I was too conscious to take a photo of myself in the office because my cubicle is right smack in the middle. Hello, oily T-zone.

There are things that I love about this powder like the fact that it doesn't break me out; that Vanilla Ivory is a close match to my shade although it turns a bit lighter on me when it starts to oxidise; that it's compact enough to fit my makeup bag; that it's perfect when I want light coverage on my face. But all of these reason are defeated by the fact that I start to oil up faster than I expect.

L'Oréal Paris Mat Magique All-in-One Matte Transforming Powder retails for PhP499 at all leading department stores nationwide. It is also available at Watson's. Since L'Oréal Paris is having their great sale for the month of May, you can get this powder for PhP400 only.

  7. I'm using this the N2 Nude vanilla,Usually kapag umaalis kami with kiddos pag uwi haggard na looks ko kasi habol dito habol dun kaya pawis na ko and no time magretouch pero first gamit ko pa lang nito pag uwi wow looking fresh pa din. Pricey ang refill niya pero worth it naman every cents.for me.. =)

  11. Yup, lighter ang face ko sa photo pero mas tolerable ang white cast nito than maybelline. Mejo exag yung sa maybelline :)

  13. Call me old-fashioned, but mas type ko pa rin yung old packaging. :( Though I understand why they're making a move to appeal to the younger generation. When I was in high school, I always saw L'Oreal as the makeup brand corporate types would use. (Pag corporate na mas malaki ang budget, Estee Lauder naman. Haha.)

Lovely rings, by the way. :)

  14. I like the old packaging better just because I don't really like pink packaging. Lalo na pag bright pink pa haha.

  16. Have you ever bought something and it leaves white cast in your face? what do you do? Is it okay to use bronzer to make the look more tolerable? I've seen on a yt video that there is a thinv like gel bronzers. Have you tried them? Do you think we can mix these gel bronzers to fondations, BBs, or even sunscreen to remove whitecasts? Thank you!
