Maybelline's White Superfresh Cake Powder*

Last January, I got an invite to attend the launching of Maybelline's newest product.  I said yes immediately as I had a feeling that this launching will most definitely be a good one!  And boy, was I right!

This has been a staple in my vanity since January.  I love hot the white compact blends nicely with my other things.

When you open the compact, you'll see that the other half of the compact is made of acrylic.  I've been digging acrylic cases for as long as I remember and this got me even more excited to use the powder!  This has got to be my favourite packaging of compact powders from Maybelline!  IMHO, this looks sleek in every angle possible.  It doesn't look cheap at all.  Like most compact powders, it comes with a sponge.  I haven't used it yet and I'm not sure if I will use it as I prefer to use a brush for  application.

Rubbed my fingers gently three times on the powder and look how much product I got.  I got the shade in 02 Nude Beige.  From the pan, I know that it's my shade but it appears lighter on my skin basing from my fingers.

I wasn't able to take a photo of myself right after I applied this powder on my face in the morning.  But it's the usual look - it give me a matte look without looking dull.  Yes, I look fresh just like what this powder claims to do on my face.  I also like the fact that I do not feel the heaviness of the powder now matter how much I pack on my face.  That, to me, is simply amazing.  I usually apply makeup at 7am.

One thing I notice about this powder though is that it makes the shade of my face and neck uneven.  My face turns whiter (which I hate btw).  I was too conscious about it but every time I ask my officemates if my face is too white, they say it's a tad lighter but doesn't look bad.  It's brighter than whiter.

7 hours into the watch, I notice that my nose is starting to shine a bit.  It's nothing disturbing.  But when you're testing a product, your radar is so sensitive that you notice all the little details.  I'm mostly indoors and the only time I leave the office is during lunch time to eat out.  Not much interaction with Mr. Sun.

12 hours into the watch, this is how my face looks like. My face still looks pretty matte.  For reference, I have a combination skin.  The usual suspect to get oily is my T-zone.  It may not be too obvious in the photo but my nose (in particular) was already shiny.  Although, I gotta say it still remained to be that non-disturbing shine.  It's that shine that makes your face looks like you're human, you oil up.  Haha!

I don't mind a little shine.  I could actually last more than 12 hours without retouching given I'm just staying in the office with maximum sun exposure of about 30 minutes (walking out and about).  The only thing that really bothers me though is that the powder oxidises on me and my face turns whiter. If you can see on the second photo, there's a shade mismatch on my face and neck.

During weekdays, I use this as a setting powder to my foundation.  During weekends, I use this as a foundation and to seal my concealer.  When used alone, this has light coverage.  My skin is not in its best condition right now so I don't use this alone as much as I want to.  But hey, summer is almost here and powder foundation is the way to go!

What's in this powder that keeps most of the oil on my face at bay?  White Superfresh has a Clean-Touch Powder System.  It's enriched with Mineral Perlite that has more absorption power than the usual talc used in other powders.

Maybelline White Superfresh comes in four shades: Light, Nude Beige, Natural, and Honey.  This compact powders retails for PhP299 and is available at all leading department stores nationwide.

  7. I don't usually use anything on my face 'cause it's sensitive. But let me introduce this new product to my sister who is a makeup addict plus she loves Maybelline. She might love this product as she work in the bank. So always indoor. Anyway, stay pretty! :)

  10. The packaging of this new fresh cake powder from Maybelline reminds me of Ever Bilena. I think this is the most inexpensive cake powder I've seen with a cute packaging. Is this also advisable for dry and sensitive skin? I would love to try this but quite afraid that it will make my cheeks drier. Thank you for this review Miss Gem. :)

  15. From the Watson's spritz test, I was already impressed. I haven't actually looked for my color yet, but I'm hoping they have something compatible for me. It looks like a lot of beiges though, and I happen to be yellow-toned. Baka tsumamba...

  16. I'm considering checking the darker shades 04 and 05. Maybe that would be my match. I really like this though i don't think 02 is my shade. Yellow tone rin ako :)

  17. I saw this at Watsons last month but Inever got a chance to buy. They don't have testers kasi ng kahit anong shade. I don't want to buy naman ng di ko natetest 'cause I don't know what my shade is. But based on your review, this shade is kinda whiter for my skintone, I guess!

  18. I read a lot of reviews about this, likewise to your review, it last longer din on their face. I'm quite intrigue by it 'cause I have an oily face. Honestly, I can consume 2-3 pcs. of blotting paper a day. haha. Gonna grab this as soon as I found testers and see for myself if it does the job. Thanks for your honest review btw and stay pretty!
