Hot Hues of Colour Collection

Last March, I was invited by Sample Room for their tie up event with Colour Collection called Hot Hues.  It was held at Oz Bar, Holiday Inn.

This was an event I couldn't pass on.  We were given a clue that it would involve lipsticks and boy, oh, boy!  There were a lot of lipsticks!

Pampering Time at Nail Cocktales Blue Bay Walk

Most women, if not all, love to get their nails done.  We love to get pampered especially the working women.  I personally know several women who gets so salons and nail spa weekly as that is their "ME" time and probably the only time that they could relax.  There are some that even go out of town for that much needed R&R.  But what if you don't have all the time in the world for that and a few hours is all you've got and yet you still want some getaway?  Nail Cocktales can take care of that!  Their place is a getaway from the city within the city.  Yes, you got that right.

Nail Cockales currently has 5 branches and I went to the newest one located at Blue Bay Walk, Pasay.

Unboxing BDJ's April 2014 Box: Pixy Exclusive*

Last Saturday was a very hectic day for me.  I was up early running errands and when I got home, I had to rush on getting ready cos I had a baby shower party to attend.  I was like two hours late at the shower party cos I got home late.  Good thing there were still a lot of people!

When I got home, I immediately saw a Xend package on our dining table.  I hurried to see who it was from since I wasn't expecting to receive anything.  There was no notification from Xend either.  When I touched it, I immediately knew it was a BDJ Box!  The small on my face when I touched it!  I was feeling livid at this point but I immediately felt alive again upon figuring out it was a BDJ Box!  Oh, the joy BDJ Box gives me.  Ibang level!

I opened the opened and this is what I saw:

Pixy. Truly Asian Beauty.  Say what now?  Pixy and not Pixi?  Initially I thought it was just a major typo (which is totally forgivable if that was the case).  But it's really spelled as Pixy with a Y and not an I.  So, I opened the box to confirm if it was a typo or what.  The packaging was entirely different so it's definitely Pixy.  I read the brochures that came with it so I could be enlightened with this new brand (at least for me).

Makeup Tag

It's been awhile since I've done a tag here and on Youtube.  While browsing through beauty blogs one night, I came across this makeup tag which I found interesting to answer.  So, I decided to answer it as well!  Let's start!

How many times do you wash your face daily?
I wash my face twice a day.

What skin type do you have? (dry, oily. combo)
I have combination skin although there are time when I feel that my skin gets really oily =(

What is your current facial wash?
My current facial wash is from Hayan. I forgot what it's called but it's white and purple.

Do you exfoliate?
Yes, I exfoliate 1-2 times a week.  Sometimes even 3 times a week because I find it addicting.  I love how my face feels so smooth afterwards.

What brand do you use?
I use Hayan's Peeling Gel as of the moment.  But I've also used Cure, White, and Glory of New York.

What moisturizer do your use?
I use Hayan's face moisturiser.  It smells so good!

Do you have freckles?
Yes, I do have freckles.  It runs in the genes.

Do you use eye cream?
I use eye cream although not regularly.  This is one product I'm too lazy to apply.

Do you or did you have acne prone skin?
I think I had my phase of having an acne prone skin when I was a teenager.  But I was lucky that I didn't have the phase where I had pimples and acne all over that they almost covered my face.

Did you ever have to use Pro-activ?
I tried Pro-activ and yes, it was effective.  But I didn't feel the need to be loyal to it because my face was never really full of zits.  I felt that I was being too harsh on myself if I continued using a product meant for face full of zits.

What foundation do you use?
Right now, I'm using Koh Gen Do Aqua Foundation and alternate it with Maybelline's Eraser Treatment (?) as everyday foundation.  On special occasions, I use the trust Urban Decay Naked Skin Foundation.

How about concealer?
I'm currently using Naturactor's concealer #151.

Do you know your undertone colour?
Mine is Olive.

What do you think of fake eyelashes?
Fake eyelashes are awesome!  If I had all the time in the world, I'd make it part of my daily routine.  I don't see anything wrong with wearing fake eyelashes so long if you're using the natural looking ones.

Did you know that you are supposed to change your mascara every 3 months?
Yes!  Although I never follow it.  Mascara is expensive, you know!

What brand of mascara do you use?
Fairydrops (the gold one)

Sephora or MAC?
Both. I can not choose one over the other =)

Do you have a MAC Pro-card?

What makeup tools do you use in makeup application?
I use my fingers when applying BB cream and concealer.  For liquid foundation, I use a flat top brush.  For setting powder, I use a huge kabuki brush from Charm.  For my brows, I use the dual ended brow brush from Charm.

Do you use make-up base/primer for the eyes?
Yes, I have to.  My eyes tend to oil up in the afternoon.  More so, if it's really hot.

For the face?
Depends only my mood but yes, I do use a primer.

What is your favorite eyeshadow (color or shade)?
Favorite eyeshadow of all time is MAC's Naked Lunch.  Currently though, I'm reaching for my L'oreal Infallible Eyeshadow in Bottomless Java.

Do you use pencil or liquid eyeliner?
I use liquid eyeliner.  Pencil is a pain to use.

How often do you poke your eyes with an eyeliner pencil?
I don't.

What do you think of pigment eyeshadows?
A little goes a long way which is good if you bought the high end ones.  But they have way too shimmer (at least the ones I have).

Do you use mineral makeup?
I use mineral makeup and I love it!  Thankfully, I don't break out!

What is your favorite lipstick?
Any nude shade of lipstick.  I have so many lipsticks that I try not have an ultimate favourite because I'd end up not using the others.

How about lipgloss?
MAC's Private Screening. Too bad it's limited edition.

What is your favorite blush to use?
Right now, it would have to be Sleek's Pixie Pink.

Do you buy your makeup on ebay?
I don't.

Do you like drugstore makeup?
I love drugstore makeup mostly the imported ones from USA, UK, and other countries in Asia.  I don't understand how other women don't like/love it.

Do you go to CCO's? (cosmetic company outlets)
Yes, I go to CCOs when I'm in the states.  It's a great chance to get hold of limited edition products of MAC!

Did you ever consider taking make-up classes?
Yes and I have!  Next year, I plan to take another full course on makeup artistry.

Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?

Name a makeup crime that you hate?
Uneven winged eyeliner! Although this is a crime that I always commit!

Do you like colorful shades of makeup (lipstick, eyeshadow) or neutral
I like colourful shades because they are nice to look at from the palette or pan.  But when it comes to applying makeup on my face, I go for neutral ones.  Philippines is one of those countries wherein you get nasty stares from random people when they see bold makeup on someone's face.  True story.

Which celebrity always has great make up?
Truth be told, I haven't seen one celebrity that always has great makeup on.  All of the celebrities I've seen have had their fair share of bad makeup (although it actually depended on the fad at that time).  Also, I don't really rely on celebrity makeup nowadays.  There are a lot of beautiful women on Youtube that share how they created a wonderful look on their face and I rely more on that.  But to answer the question, it's probably Shay Michell.  Filipina represent, y'all!

If you could leave the house using just one makeup item, what would you
I used to say eyeliner but now I gotta say, eyebrow powder!

Could you ever leave the house without any makeup on?
Yes, I could and I have!

Do you think you look good even without any makeup on?
Yes, I look good without makeup on.  I only started wearing makeup in 2007.

In your opinion, what is the BEST makeup line?
Most of my HG products are from MAC. But Urban Decay is such a great contender, too.  It's MAC and Urban Decay from me.

What do you think of Makeup?
Makeup is a product women use to feel good about themselves. So men, don't even ruin that bubble.

I had fun answering the questions.  I'm tagging everyone who gets to read this!  Let me know if you've answered this as well! I'd love to read your answers!

Product Empties Volume 4

As mentioned on my last Product Empties post, it's hard to finish products in one month's time. I salute those people who are able to post their monthly product empties (and they're usually more than 5 products!) because srsly, how do they do that?! LOL!

So, here's my product empties for the first quarter of the 2014!  If you ask me, I still don't think it's a lot.  You'll know why after the jump.

Food Escapade at Corazon (Filipino Hispano Cuisine)

After watching Wicked, we decided to have early dinner.  It was quite difficult thinking where to dine because we weren't that hungry yet.  Since Shangri-la is near the house, I decided to just have dinner there.

When we got there, we had to trim down our choices.  Corazon was included in my To-Dine list but that time, I really wasn't in the mood to have Filipino food.  So, we looked for other restaurants.  But then again, the menu was something amiss and we still ended up at Corazon.

Find out what we ordered after the jump!

Glimpse of (My) Life in Photos - Birthday Week

I am very much aware that I have been MIA in the blogosphere and no matter how much I try to post regularly, something else beats me into posting entries.

I'd just like you to know that I do receive your emails and I do reply within 48 hours.  Thank you to those that send e-mails and private messages on Facebook asking me when I will be posting a new review or when I will be blogging regularly again.  I'm still buying makeup and attend a few beauty blogger events so I'm still updated in that way.  Ergo, I have a ginormous backlogs for this beauty blog.  No promises when I will start posting regularly.  But I will ry my best.

Anyhow, it was my birthday last week.  Thank you to all those that greeted me.  It was much appreciated!  My birthday was pretty quiet this year but it was definitely fun nonetheless.  I was people that I wanted to spend my day with and that matters the most to me.

Few goodies that made me smile when I woke up and went down to our dining.  A package from The Primp Pad!  I now have That's Heart Palette!  It's so pretty I can't dare swatch it!

My Ray-ban flashlens.  I've had this for a while but I think I only started using it on my birthday.  I was actually preparing it for my new baby (not a person).  And now that I have a new baby, it's about time I put them flashlens to good use.  Oh yeh, on my lips is Lime Crime's Velvetine lipstick in Pink Velvet.

Took a snapshot of myself because I started testing out a new foundation.  It's one of those foundations that I've had for awhile but never really got to use because I forgot I have it. SMH to the max.  Can you guess what foundation this is? Hint: it's water based.

And of course, the latest loot from my Sample Room family!  I received this before my birthday but I was only able to open it on my birthday because I didn't see it right away. Haha!  Love this package to bits and I can't wait to use them when I hit the beach!  On the side note, I kept my current sunblock and switched to these Belo products!

The other photos are in my mom's phone.  Well, just want to let you all know that I'm still here.  Till my next beauty post!

Belo Essentials Sun Expert*

And we know how scorching hot it is during summer in Manila.  We're talking about an average of 80 degrees fahrenheit!  Not only that, what I notice here in Manila is that a lot of people are scared of getting their skin sun burnt.

So, fret not for Belo Essentials Sun Expert is here!  These products are not your usual sunblock.  Contrary to popular belief, unblock must be used all year long.  Our skin still needs protection from the sun even if it ain't summer.  Sunblock can also minimise ageing.  What makes Belo Essentials different is that it's not sticky like most sunblock lotion.  It has a nice gentle scent, too.

You can actually try these products by getting them for free at Sample Room! Yes, you get a full sized product for free!

Let me know how you like it! Stay young in the sun!
