Review: Fashion 21's lipstick in Little Mermaid (Aqualicious Collection)

Around some time in July or August, I was in the beauty section of SM Department Store checking make-up. I don't remember if I needed to buy something important or if I was just killing time. After checking imported brands, I checked Fashion 21 just before riding the escalator.

There were a lot of girls surrounding their kiosk. Some of their makeup was on sale. The girl beside me asked the sales lady, "Miss, asan yung Little Mermaid nyo?" Little Mermaid is my favorite Disney princess character of all time! So I eavesdropped to make sure if I heard it right. The sales lady, gave her a tube and the girl left. So, I asked the sales lady the same thing.

Then she handed me the lipstick, opened it to make sure it's brand new. I left and immediately paid for it.

If you like pink lips, then you'd like this lipstick. I'm not sure if this is limited edition because it's from a certain collection (Aqualicious Collection). This lipstick reminds me of Nyx's Fig. It's pure pink (although my photo does not justify it; bad lighting). Its staying power is also good. It stays on for about 4 hours if you're just in the office. It doesn't have this weird scent nor scent which other local brands have (even Nyx). It is available locally and it's very affordable!

The only thing that I don't like about this lipstick is the packaging. Then again, the packaging is not that bad. I just prefer black tubes most of the time.

Review: Maybelline Extreme Moisture lipstick in Brick Rose

Aside from wedge shoes, I've been hoarding red lipsticks lately. I guess it's the fad that has gotten into me. But seriously, every time I check make-up at beauty counters, I always find myself looking for the perfect red lipstick.

I've been looking for Revlon's Crimson but it's sold out in the Philippines. None of the sales ladies know when they're gon have it in stock again. While roaming around SM department store and stopping by Maybelline counter, I asked if they had a brick red shade. The sales lady showed me Brick Rose.

I actually like this shade. I've been looking for brick red and this shade lives up to its name. It's not too dramatic. I can pull this off day and night. It lightens up your face without actually overdoing it, if you get what I mean.

The only thing I don't like about this lipstick is that its staying power is crap. You always have to retouch or else it fades and makes your lipstick look like you only have lipliner on.

Although I like this lipstick, I'm not stopping with this shade. I think I need another shade similar to this just to compare which looks better on me. but as of now, gotta stick with this lipstick!

It's not the best but I still recommend :)

Another Wedge Shoes from Aldo

I just can't get enough of wedge shoes and Aldo. So what more having found wedge shoes in Aldo?!

I've been searching for these shoes for a month now. The Aldo branches I visited always didn't have my size anymore. I was dead set on getting tan that's why I still didn't budge even though my mom was insisting that the black one looks better. I chose not to call all Aldo branches for these shoes cos I kept thinking, "if it's mine, it's mine.."

Two weeks ago, I went to L'Oreal's office in Ortigas. I decided to park at the Galleria to be safe. I passes by Aldo on my way back to the parking lot. I decided to go inside, and bam..... these wedges were there!

I love you Aldo even though make me broke! Haha :)

Finally! A collection dedicated to the villains! I've been waiting for his collection to see if it's yay or nay. Hehe!

Toxic Tale is part of Evil Queen's set.

MAC Satin Lipstick in Toxic Tale

Pros:
- it's MAC
- the shade is indeed bright!
- compliments any skin tone
- unique lipstick tube because of the design
- long lasting
- wearable shade

Cons:
- it's limited edition
- it can dry your lips (it's Satin)

The first time I tried this lipstick on my lips, I was shocked because it was really bright. IMO, it looks bright red (even neon at certain glances) to me everytime I look at my lips in the mirror. However, every time I take a photo of myself wearing this, it instantly gives life to my very tired face. In short, it brightens my face! Photo was taken without makeup on aside from gel brow on my eyebrows. Pardon the eyebags. Another lovely thing about this shade is that it's wearable depending on your mood.

The only thing that I really don't like about this lipstick is the fact that it's Satin. It dries my lips because Satin's texture is somewhat matte. So it has the tendency to define lines on your lips. And that's ugly. This lipstick should always be applied after applying lip balm.

Yay or nay? You decide.

Review: H&M Eyeshadow Trio

I've never given much thought on H&M makeup because I have this feeling that their products might disappoint. After all, they're not known for cosmetics anyway.

But I saw that it was 50% off so I bought their eyeshadow trio. Hehe!

Straight and Smooth Salon Experience - FAIL!

I seriously hate to be the bearer of bad news.

Yesterday, I went to Straight & Smooth Salon to have my hair dyed. It was really part of my plan to get a hair dye as I'm going on a quick vacation this week and for vanity reasons, I want to look different on photos - specifically, to look better on photos than the ones I had last June.

I was thinking of going to Piandre or Bench Fix but considered Straight & Smooth Salon since it's Piandre's sister company.

I arrived there at 1:30pm, told Ruby I was going to get my hair dyed using L'Oreal INOA. They stylist Ruby assigned to me was insisting that I stick with L'Oreal Majic something. But I said, I came here specifically for L'Oreal INOA because Piandre doesn't carry it.

So, she dyed my hair. All the staff were accomodating and nice. I couldn't complain on that.

L'Oreal INOA applied on my hair

I chose this shade in warm/brown shade section. Number 7.51, I think. I was advised by the stylist that INOA doesn't show much on the hair. So, even if I chose a lighter color, that color wouldn't be achieved. It would still be darker. I still chose a safe shade. Not too light but there's definitely a hint of a different color other than black/dark brown hair.

After 2 hours, my hair turned out like this.

my fugly, damaged hair

Notice the top of my hair. It looked copper-ish/orange-y, right? It looked a lot worse under sunlight. So after 5 minutes of staring at my new hair color outside the salon, I went back and complained. First of all, it wasn't the shade I chose. Secondly, the hair color wasn't even. The top of my hair was so light it could pass for blonde. Then the rest of my hair was just brown.

So, they dyed my hair again. After 30minutes, the top of my hair turned orange! The owner talked to me and told me the truth about L'Oreal INOA. Apparently, as per Straight & Smooth Salon, INOA is not a good product. L'Oreal just really has a good PR that they keep on pushing the product. But most of their clients that tried INOA had complained about the uneveness of color it brings to the hair. This is also the reason why Piandre does not carry L'Oreal INOA. No wonder, initially they were insisting that they'd use L'Oreal Majic on me instead of INOA.

They dyed my hair again using dark ash blonde and gave my hair a treatment. Oh, they also voided the sale on card transaction which was Php2,400.00.

Were they able to fix my hair? Not really.

top of my hair. it's still freaking light!
that isn't the color of my hair when I went to the salon.

me frowning.
No choice, gotta stick with a fugly uneven hair color

Obviously, I will not go back to Straight & Smooth Salon ever. This experience is enough for me to shut off all their services altogether. I was also so disappointed with Piandre. Because the people from Straight & Smooth are trained by Piandre. So, I guess I would have to end my 14-year relationship with Piandre (formerly known as Gem Salon).
