Review: MAC Mineralize Skin Finish in Smooth Merge

If there's one MAC collection for 2009 that I really like, it's gotta be the Color Craft Collection. I felt I had to buy the entire collection or at least 2 of each product.. but I didn't because a certain MAC SA really ticked me off and my lemming for the collection died out just like that. Also, it was released the day before I left for Thailand. So, I couldn't really splurge cos my mind was already set on something else (why hello Bottega!).

When I came back from Thailand, I accidentally passed by MAC in Rustan's Makati. Seriously, it was an accident passing by since I came from The Ramp. They still had the Color Craft Collection but the ones I wanted were already sold out! And I really wanted to get my hands on Porcelain Pink. Luckily, Sab went to HK and told me that the Color Craft Collection was still available so I told her to get me Smooth Merge instead since Porcelain Pink was also sold out.

Among all the MSF in Color Craft Collection, Smooth Merge was the shade that appealed to me - next to Porcelain Pink, of course. I also checked Temptalia and according to her, Smooth Merge is a must-have among the MSF.

Pros:
- nice packaging since the color can be seen from the clear cover
- can also be used as an eyeshadow
- lighest shade can be used as highlighter
- pigmented
- buildable
- gives you a fresh look
- looks more of a natural flush when used on photoshoots

In between:
- can get shimmery (which is a con for me)

Cons:
- pricey
- limited edition

Verdict: 3 out of 5

This product is nice to have but I won't buy it again.. at least not Smooth Merge. It's not because I don't like it. I just want to try the other MSF that MAC will release in their upcoming collections.

The first time I used this, my boyfriend commented that I looked fresher than usual. I could swear that it was because of this product cos it was the only thing I put on on my face. I just came from a shoot then. I don't usually put makeup during shoots cos it's so hot that I always end up retouching my makeup when I'm working behind the scenes haha! The following day, I used it at work and the shimmers were very apparent. IMO, a shimmery look is not appropriate at work. So the next time I'll use this, it's prolly during a night out with friends or something.

Smooth Merge is not available at MAC counters anymore but you can check the nearest CCO outlet near you. They might have it.

  1. It does give you an amazing glow! But I am wary about the shimmers because it can emphasize my pores.

  5. @ Nina: I never thought about the shimmers emphsizing the pores. I'll try it again and I'll check my pores. Thanks for the info! :)

@ Jing: This is my first MSF, actually. Hehe. I'm not a big fan of dewy looks. But it's still nice to have.. even just one hehe :)

@ Lisa: methinks it gets to glowy tho haha! Maybe I should try lighter MSFs next time :)

  6. @ ANONYMOUS: who's the more pathetic one? You won't and can't even identify yourself.

If you're telling me that I'm such a show off, it's like telling everyone who has a beauty blog that they're such a show off too. I'm not the only one who blogs like this you know.

You're claiming to know me long enough, right? Why don't you ask my parents and ask them if they're the ones who purchased most, if not all, of my make-up. Baka mapahiya ka sa sagot nila. I dare you. Sasamahan pa kita na kausapin sila.

If there's anyone who's a faker here, it's you. The people who read this blog know my name and my face. Eh kme, we don't even have an idea who you really are. You're just someone claiming to have known me for a long time. Right.

And so what kung pangit ngipin ko? What do you care? Ikaw, ang pangit ng ugali mo.

If you don't like what you see on my blog, then why are you visiting it???? You are such a faker. You must be living a very boring life that you're so locked down on the musings of a pathetic person.

Seriously, just the fact that you commented like this proves that you are the pathetic one.
